- Rosemary Nzembi, Founder and Co-Chair: rosemary@twinklelittlestars.org
From the very humble beginnings Rosemary grew up in a small village in rural Kenya without much to look forward to. Her father abandoned her at birth and she grew up under the care of her widowed grandmother, while her mother struggled to make meager earnings at a local photo studio. She survived primarily on boiled corn and pumpkins as well as occasional rare bird meat that she and her older brother hunted with slingshots while grazing livestock. With no one to bridge the gap for her, Rosemary embraced faith & optimism at a very early age. She dreamt of a land far away where “everything good comes from”; and was determined to do everything short of crime, to live in that land some day. Whereas many saw her impoverished childhood as overwhelming odds stacked up against her; she saw abundant opportunities as long as “I commit my dreams to God and work diligently to achieve them.” After high school, she moved to Nairobi (the capital city of Kenya) to look for work and pursue her dreams. Rosemary easily forged durable relationships with the elite, every opportunity she got. She recognized the importance of strategic connections in a dynamic world of opportunities. Her early childhood hardships fueled her motivations to reach higher in life, regardless of her social limitations.
Through Godly teachings & inspiration from her mother and her grandmother, she has risen through life to become a great motivator and an impeccable leader in her community. At an early age, Rosemary determined that the sky was the limit and has hence overcome many insurmountable obstacles to become a successful career woman and philanthropist. For more than 10 years she has dedicated her life to helping others succeed in various aspects of life. Despite her exemplary career, Rosemary always felt a void in her spirit - one that could only be filled by following her desire to positively impact the lives of other people personally and directly. Her exuberant spirit, love for life, positive attitude, self-motivation and heightened integrity have played a significant role in her success socially and professionally. These core values have formed the corner stone of Trail Blazers Coaching Alliance - a professional coaching business of which Rosemary is founder. Through TCA she is helping people realize their dreams and develop their God-given potential. Her global focus is on the youth and young professionals - especially those who grow up in unpromising environments. Her grandmother instilled a selfless commitment in her; to live a life of integrity and bless the lives of those around her.
Rosemary arrived in the US at the dawn of the new millennium without any family or tall relative to hold her hand around. Like many other people in a foreign country, she suffered adversity, culture shock, loneliness, home sick and emotional brokenness; but none of these would stop her from chasing her dreams. She paid her way through college while doing lousy jobs to pay her bills and support her extended family in Kenya. She graduated from North Lake College in 2003 with a degree in Applied Sciences – Information Technology major. Shortly after graduation Rosemary and her friends started International Soaring Eagles to channel help to her village in Eastern Kenya. This organization later became Twinkle Little Stars, Inc. Through TLS, Rosemary has delivered numerous life changing presentations to Rotary Clubs, Schools, Church organizations and social community groups to raise funds for the program. Rosemary has served as secretary on board of United Nations Dallas Chapter under YPIC.
She is involved in servant leadership at her local church in Irving, TX where she serves in the Youth and Worship departments. During her spare time Rosemary likes to spend time with kids and old people in her community. She also likes to volunteer at local community events. Her latest community initiative recently celebrated 1 year anniversary in November 2009. G.I.G which stands for Girls Inspiring Girls started in October 2008 and Rosemary was a founding member. She is humbled by the opportunity to serve on the board of Twinkle Little Stars, Inc. where she hopes to be a positive inspiration to the children of Kenya. One of the quotes that fuel her passion for TLS is by Mahatma Gandhi; “Become the change you wish to see in the world.”
